UN 인권이사회 중국 장기적출건 논의

앵커: 수요일 새로 구성된 제네바의 유엔 인권이사회가 장기밀매에 관하여 처음으로 논의했습니다. 이사회는 중국에서 조사를 진행하는 것이 필요하다고 말했습니다. 신당인 텔레비전 제네바 특파원 보도를 들어보겠습니다.
기자: 유럽의회 부의장이며 중국에서 파룬궁을 조사할 최초의 서방사회 고위관리인 에드워드 맥밀런 스캇은 불가피한 사정으로 불참했습니다. 하지만 그는 메시지를 보내 중국에서 실제로 장기밀매가 있었으며 그것은 명백하게 집단학살을 구성하는 것이라는 그의 이전 진술을 되풀이했습니다.
장기적출 관행에 관해 질문을 받은 제네바 의회의 인권위원회 전 위원장 토머스 뷔히씨는 말했습니다.
토머스 뷔히(인권위 전 위원장): 다른 시대, 다른 상황에서 멩겔레의 생체실험과 비교할 수 있는 그러한 야만적인 행위를 사람들이 생각하고 상상할 수 있다는 것만으로도 섬뜩해 집니다. 사람들이 수술을 받고 범죄에 연루된 장기를 받아 들인다는 것은 소름끼치는 일입니다.
인권에 관한 비정부기구 특별위원회 의장 프루브 목사는 개인적으로 "장기 밀매는 인류의 기본적인 자유에 대한 심각한 침해로서 이 문제를 충분히 밝히기 위해 심층 조사가 이루어져야 한다"고 언급했습니다.
그러나 그 전에 뷔히씨가 다시 한번 지적한 바와 같이 우선적으로 해야 할 일은 이러한 잔혹행위를 규탄하는 것입니다. 여기에는 개개인의 도덕적 책임이 있습니다.

U.N. Human Rights Council Discusses Organ Harvesting
Anchor: The new human rights council at the U.N. in Geneva had their first discussion on organ trafficking Thursday. The council says an investigation needs to be carried out in China. Here's our Geneva correspondents with more on this story.
Story : Mr Edward McMillan-Scott, Vice-President of the European Parliament and the first high-ranking Western official to investigate Falun Gong in China, was unable to participate, being unavoidably detained at the last minute. He sent a message, however, to reiterate his previous statement, that the trafficking of organs indeed existed in China and that it clearly constituted a case of genocide.
Questioned on the practice of organ harvesting, Thomas Büchi, former President of the Human Rights Committee in the Geneva Parliament, said:
"I was horrified that one could even envisage, even imagine, such a barbaric act, comparable to the experiments of Mengele carried out in another time and in other conditions. I am appalled that people would undergo an operation and accept an organ from such a criminal origin."
Reverend Prove, Chairman of the NGO Special Committee concerning Human Rights, speaking in a personal capacity, stated that the trafficking in organs was a serious attack on the fundamental freedoms of human beings and that an in-depth investigation must be carried out to bring the matter fully to light.
But beyond that, the first thing to be done, as Mr Büchi once again pointed out, was to denounce these atrocities. Herein lies the individual's moral responsibility.
“I think that each one, wherever he finds himself and whatever his position, must speak out about it; it is essential to make this public."
